Dubbed the new generation of 'New Warriors', anyone check out this title?

I almost did. I like most of the characters, but something put me off.

For a second I though the "Young Masters" had gotten a book. I'm actually very interested in seeing them in action now.

Bought issues #1-2 and quite enjoyed it. Mind you, the only character I have read of previously was Firestar, but McKeever provides a nice set-up and intro for the others.

Even by #2, these heroes are not a team yet, though they are working towards the same goal. Firestar and Gravity share a nice rapport while Nomad, Arana, and Toro work through their distinct problems.

The problem in question are the Bastards of Evil, the illegimate children of super-villains. Sounds corny, but Warhead, son of Radioactive Man, commits a heinous crime during the first attack which dispels that notion.

I found this to be a quality book with some quality art. The story doesn't feel rushed as the group is slowly being brought together. In fact, I'm probably going to search out the earlier stories of these characters. I like'em.

The Bastards are:

Warhead, son of Radioactive Man

Warning :: Spoiler Ahead!
(who committed suicide, blew himself to smithereens, on the site of Ground Zero in Manhattan, killing many civilians)

Singularity, the son of Graviton

Mortar, the daughter of the Grey Gargoyle

Ember, the son of Pryo

Aftershock, the daughter of Electro

Although in #2, Firestar and Gravity manage to track down and confront Electro....who after trashing them, claims he never had a daughter for the girl in question appears to be too young.

When did that Firestar one-shot come out?

Dunno how I feel about this series yet. So far the only character I actually like is Toro... and is this the same Firestar who was an Avenger?
