Is Paralax really gone?
Toward the end of the movie we see Hal hurl Paralax into the sun, but are we to believe Paralax is truly gone? In the DC Comics there are certainly multiple examples of characters surviving inside a star, Ion and Superman being two of them.

What is to become of the yellow ring?
In the movie Sinestro convinces the Guardians to construct a yellow ring, powered by fear, to combat Paralax. When Hal successfully defeats Paralax without the yellow ring the Guardians are convinced that they were wrong to believe a yellow ring was the only thing powerful enough to defeat Paralax.

The Guardians no longer have plans for the yellow ring, but is that the end of it? Sit through the closing credits and you'll see Sinestro remove his green ring and replace it with the yellow ring followed by a glance at his new yellow uniform. How awesome is that? (Not to mention the statuette and action figure potential for collectors.)

We should definitely look to see Sinestro as a yellow lantern in coming sequels. Perhaps a Sinestro Corps War as seen in the comics? Maybe Sinestro even has a way of resurrecting Paralax?

Other lantern corps on the rise?
Well, we did not see Atrocitus in the movie even though in the comic mythos Atrocitus is the escaped prisoner of Abin Sur that deals a fatal attack before Abin Sur and his spacecraft crash to Earth. In the movie Atrocitus' role in the downfall of Abin Sur is replaced by Paralax.

Atrocitus and his red lantern corps would be an amazing addition to future big screen sagas, but is it truly hopeless to expect him in future installments? I say no.

Sit through the closing credits and you may notice large splashes of color in the scenes of the cosmos that is the background to the credits. Look closer and you'll notice that these splashes are not just any colors. There are exactly seven colors of splashes matching the exact same seven colors of the emotional spectrum corresponding to the seven lantern corps of the Blackest Night comic book saga.

I say it's very likely that future sequels will not only have a Sinestro Corps wielding yellow rings, but an entire array of lantern corps perhaps including fan favorites such as Atrocitus, Larfleeze, Saint Walker and more. And how awesome would that be?

Blackest Night?
With multiple lantern corps could Blackest Night be far off? One can only hope.

In the movie the Green Lanterns speak the familiar oath of the comics and we all know how that begins: "In Blackest Night..." Let's just hope writers don't try to pile too much into just one sequel. The comics saga played out over many months and even years leading from the Sinestro Corps War through the wars of the respective lantern corps to Blackest Night and Brightest Day.

In the comics Abin Sur is killed by Atrocitus before crashing to Earth and dying. In the movie Paralax deals the fatal injury which ultimately kills Abin Sur. I didn't mind this variation because it wasn't really germain to the story. The result was the same either way. Abin dies; Hal gets the ring.

In the comics, specifically the Blackest Night saga, we learn that Paralax is one of seven primal entities representing the seven basic emotions of the universal emotional energy spectrum. (A rough very abbreviated summary, not counting the two entities representing the white and black lanterns.) In the movie the Guardians tell us that a rogue Guardian becomes Paralax after experimenting with harnessing the power of fear against the judgement of the rest of the Guardians. I suppose this could affect future sequels, but it wasn't really important for this movie. In both versions Paralax is an overwhelming force of fear in the universe that threatens the Green Lantern Corps.

In the movie the origin of Hector Hammond's meta-abilities is infection by a parasitic microorganism that is somehow connected to Paralax. While I'm no expert on the actual origin story for Hector Hammond, I do know that there are no stories in the comics in which Paralax uses actual organisms to posses beings or to instill fear in the universe. While I find this variance to be the most egregious of the three mentioned here, I do have to admit that it was made to fit well in the story created for the movie.

Bruce Wayne/Batman & Bane will certainly clash hard in The Dark Knight Rises and I can tell you this much, during their first fight against one-another will , Bane WILL break Batman's back!
