Like halfway through my second playthrough now.
I thought it was a given that I'd be on this like white on white people.

I can't stress enough how much I love this game. Literally everything is an improvement over Arkham Asylum, save maybe the voice acting (but I'm one of those weird guys who thinks nostalgia for the TAS voice cast is retarded). There were twists and turns aplenty, up to and including the last few moments. The plot was an absolute improvement over Asylum in pretty much every way.
The best improvement I can think of is in the collection of Riddler Trophies. In Asylum, they were all just sitting there, and it was nothing more than a fetch quest. In City, yes it's still a fetch quest, but the grand majority of trophies have their own little mini puzzles to solve, which really does keep everything fresh. And interrogating Riddler informants is markedly more fun than just finding maps of locations.
Gliding around the city itself is also a blast. The city's not huge (it only takes maybe a minute and a half to cross if all you're trying to do is cross it, and that's without the boost device), but it's detailed. There are so many little details - Harvey Dent campaign posters, the theater/alleyway where the Waynes were killed, and so on.
Negatives? The Catwoman bits seemed to just be tacked on near the end, which is weird since Catwoman playability was one of the first things announced. Her story crosses over with Batman's maybe twice, and not in creative or story-driven ways. This made me especially sad because I adored what little Catwoman bits there were. The story mode is also pretty short - took me maybe ten-thirteen hours to finish, and I'm not very good at video games. Given, that was on easy (I like to go through the first time just to see the story, and then try to get better later), and I haven't done any predator or battle maps, but still.
Overall, Arkham City is a solid 9/10.
(Trying to be objective, but goddamn if I'm not still geeking out over things during my second playthrough)

So the storyline is shorter than Arkham Asylum? Good that it's better, though. You play with any of the other skins?

I only have the TAS skins. I do not like Batman's, though Catwoman's seems to look better. I'm ambivalent about buying the skin packs when they're released; some are very pretty looking, but it's like eight bucks a pack.

I thought there'd be more Catwoman as well, bought the Nightwing pack yesterday, his weapons are fun, but I also didn't realize he wouldn't be added to the main story line... of course, I haven't finished the game yet and started my new game + mode, my cousin has and after that point there's a switch off spot for Catwoman side missions I guess. Hopefully there's some for Nightwing. If not, I'm not even going to bother with the Robin pack coming out later.

Tim, I think. But he's got Dick's TAS skin as well as Tim's Red Robin get-up (pre-dcnu).
